What happens to the figures you enter

Nothing leaves your browser. Every calculator runs in JavaScript on your own device. Costs, prices, margins and break-even figures are held in memory while the page is open and disappear when you close the tab. We never see them, store them or transmit them.

One preference is saved locally: the currency you last selected, kept in your browser's local storage so the tool opens the way you left it. Clearing your browsing data removes it. Nothing about that value identifies you.

What we collect

Standard server logs record the page requested, the time, a truncated IP address and the browser user agent. Those logs exist to keep the site available and to spot abuse, and they are deleted on a rolling basis.

If you send us a message through the contact page we hold your name, email address and what you wrote for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of any correction we made as a result.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. If analytics are in use they are configured without cross-site identifiers, and you can block them with any standard browser setting or extension without losing access to any calculator.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hello@margincalculator.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with the response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Children

The site is aimed at people running or studying a business. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

Any change is published on this page with a revised review date. Material changes will also be noted on the homepage for a period after they take effect.
